Beijing Day 8 – Hutong Walkabout

After the Forbidden city, (which we went through pretty quickly due to the crowds) we embarked on another Hutong Walkabout.  I love these little neighborhoods. While some are sort of tourist attractions, others just represent everyday life in Beijing. We also went through Bei Hai park which was quite beautiful and serene.  One of the highlights of the park is the water calligraphy guys.  These old guys get out there and create these beautiful (and temporary) works of art using only water and a dusty sidewalk. We were later informed that this was a form of exercise for the older chinese.  One of the guys painted a picture of leila with water in 2 Minutes! It was awesome.
